I'm Tara S., the breeder behind Hat Creek Kennel located in Marvell, AR. Our dogs are bred to produce healthy, sound, and versatile pups. They make excellent hunting companions and family pets. We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Breeding healthy, family friendly dogs is embedded in our family. Starting with my grandmother now down to her children and grandchildren. We have been doing this for generations. Our love for these animals will hopefully continue for generations to come.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Dachshund puppies include longhaired, wirehaired, and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Dachshund puppies include piebald, cream, wild boar, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Tara

Tara has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $950 - $1,600 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Our puppy prices start out at $1200 for limited AKC registration. Please inquire if you’re looking for full breeding rights. Deposits are only refundable if something happens to your puppy while it’s still here with us.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
