About Zelda
Zelda is my dream dog, she’s my go anywhere, do anything female. She is always up to train, go for a run, swim, work or just stay at home cuddling on the couch and watching a movie. She is neutral to people and animals, she gets along well with different dogs (big and small, male and female) and absolutely adores puppies. In the house she is the perfect pet, she’s not destructive, loves cuddling with her people and other house pets on the couch, getting some love and watching a movie. Even though she is neutral and open, she does have a more serious side to her. In the work she is a strong, pushy and dominant female. She is always ready to work and her eagerness to please and work with her handler show on the field. She is a fast, high twitch dog in all phases, she is very precise and easy to handle. In protection she shows dominance to the helper with grips and strikes to die for. She recently obtained her IGP 1 (95-90-96) and is working towards her IGP 2, 3 and breed survey.
Excellent health testing
Excellent level
Haus Bärchen German Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
