I'm Monica A., the breeder behind Haus Der Valkyrie German Shepherds located in Union Star, MO. My German Shepherds are direct imports and AKC and FCI registered. I believe in improving the health of the breed and test my dogs prior to breeding. They are tested for hips, elbows and DNA. All of my puppies have Embark genetic testing panels completed as well. My goal is to produce the healthiest puppies possible using the scientific tools available.
Q. & A. with Monica
Why did you start breeding?
I truly want to help improve the gene pool of the German Shepherd breed. There are known health issues within the breed and by using the scientific knowledge provided by modern genetic testing, I believe I can help preserve this amazing breed for future generations.
What makes your program special?
I am committed to using science to help maintain the amazing German Shepherd breed and health test both my dogs and the puppies I produce. This testing combined with early socialization and training using the Puppy Culture method gives my dogs a great foundation for success with their forever homes.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Mia
Mia is such a BEAUTIFUL mover. With all our changes around here I’ve decided to do what’s best for her. Mia is beyond health tested, an import, FCI and AKC registered, a proven fabulous mother, and titles of CGC and BH-VT. Not to mention her pedigree is very nice! She is NOT cheap but will consider a co- own. If you are looking to add beautiful import lines with every dog titled and health tested she is your girl. She has beautiful red pigment that she passes on. Here is her OFA information. She is also negative for pituitary dwarfism. https://ofa.org/advanced-search/?appnum=2159322. Here is her pedigree- her info is not all updated and neither is her picture yet. She is also embark clear and Carrie’s long coat. https://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=3041040-mia-terra-silva?_v=20210330230928

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Haus Der Valkyrie German Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Mucopolysaccharidosis VII (MPS VII ARSB), German Shepherd Dog Type, Hyperuricosuria (HUU), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
