Meet the breeder

I'm Shawnie J., the breeder behind Haus Stärke K9s located in Eugene, OR. Welcome to Haus Stärke K9s! At Haus Stärke, we pour our hearts into raising healthy, confident, well-rounded puppies. Every puppy holds a place in our hearts, and when they go home, their families become part of ours. We’re proud to offer guidance, support, and advice for life❤️.

Q. & A. with Shawnie

  • Why did you start breeding?

German Shepherds were part of our lives long before we began breeding. I grew up around people who bred and trained dogs, which sparked my interest from an early age. After years of owning and working with German Shepherds, my admiration for the breed only grew. Eventually, that passion developed into a desire to build a responsible breeding program of my own.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is truly a family affair. Our dogs and puppies are raised alongside our family, with everyone involved in their care, training, and socialization. They’re also exposed to family members with special needs, giving them unique experiences with different communication styles and abilities. Some even learn hand signs to communicate with our special needs family members!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock, plush, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, black and tan, black and red, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Shawnie

Shawnie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Shawnie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Finding the right match between each puppy and their future family is incredibly important to us. ❤️ While we understand that everyone may have certain preferences when it comes to gender, coat, coloring, or appearance, we believe temperament and compatibility should always come first. At exactly 7 weeks of age, each puppy completes temperament testing. We also consider everything we’ve observed while raising them, including their personality, confidence, energy level, drive, sensitivity, independence, engagement with people, and overall temperament. Puppy selections are made in the order deposits were received. When it’s your turn to choose, we’ll go over the available puppies with you and discuss which ones we feel are best suited for your family, lifestyle, experience, and goals. Whether you’re looking for a family companion, active adventure partner, working prospect, sport dog, or potential service/therapy dog prospect, we want to help you make an informed decision. We don’t believe there is one “best puppy” in a litter, there is simply the puppy that is the best fit for each individual home. 🐾 Our goal isn’t just to place our puppies in homes; it’s to create matches that have the best opportunity to thrive for a lifetime. While the final selection is ultimately made by the family according to their pick position, we will always be open and honest if we believe a particular puppy may not be the right fit.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $800 non-refundable deposit that secures a spot in a litter. The remaining $700 - $3,700 is due before pickup, plus applicable taxes and fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“Our puppy pricing varies based on several factors, including registration, pedigree, titles, health testing, and placement. We’re happy to work with you to find the best fit for your family! A deposit is required to reserve your puppy and secure your pick. Because deposits are immediately put toward the care and expenses of the litter, all deposits are non-refundable.”

After recently losing our rescue German Shepherd, we honestly hadn’t planned on getting a puppy so soon. It was still a difficult time for our family. When we connected with Shawnie, I explained my medical condition and what we were hoping to find in a dog temperament-wise. Shawnie took the time to listen and thoughtfully recommended the brown collar puppy. Her confidence in that recommendation helped us feel comfortable moving forward and trusting her judgment. Throughout the process, Shawnie was incredibly patient and responsive. My husband had several questions, and she took the time to answer them thoroughly without ever making us feel rushed. Communication was quick, clear, and reassuring, which meant a lot to us during such an emotional decision. Her knowledge of the puppies and willingness to help match us with the right one made the entire experience positive and supportive.

Northwest K9s was wonderful to work with. Kept me up to date with pictures and videos of our puppy Raven, who is beautiful, smart and easy to train (so far) I would recommend working with them. P.S any quote concerns were addressed. So excited for our new family member ❤️🐾🎉

It went wonderful!!! Shawnie was so quick on her responses, and very helpful and knowledgeable! My boyfriend and I were looking for a puppy that would fit in our family, we have two cats and another German Shepherd who is high energy and loves to play play play, I let Shawnie know our life style and what we love to do and she was able to help us pick the perfect puppy for our family, when I messaged her she only had two puppy’s left, I wanted to meet the puppies before I put a deposit and Shawnie was on it and had quick response and was able to meet us so we can meet the puppies she had left, my boyfriend and I just couldn’t decide on which puppy to choose but Shawnie was there to help us pick the puppy that best fit our family! Now we have the best puppy that fits in so well with our family, and on top of that our puppy is quick to learn and is very playful! Without Shawnie not only helping us pick the perfect puppy for our home, she was very quick at responding and very knowledgeable!
