I'm Kathy M., the breeder behind Herzensfreude German Shepherd Dogs located in Somis, CA. Creating dogs who are wonderful companions and are able to perform well in work and play, due to excellent health and temperament.
Q. & A. with Kathy
Why did you start breeding?
After having been in Schutzhund for about 15 years, I bought a female who was the whole package - excellent health and structure, super pedigree, combined with amazing working abilities. I felt an odd responsibility to add her genetics to the breed. That was in 1999 and since that time I've bred 7 litters. It's incredibly important to me to be very selective in my breeding choices.
What makes your program special?
Breeding isn't just about creating puppies. It's about contributing something to the breed. I offer lifetime breeder support and several of my buyers are on their second dog from my breeding, which is something that makes me very happy, as they become a part of my dog family.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
