Meet the breeder

I'm Laura F., the breeder behind Hidden Meadow Ranch located in Mount Vernon, WA. We strive to offer Kangal pups that are sound of mind and body. Our puppies have been born outside and are raised with stock. Both parents are working livestock guardians. We select dogs with confidence, intelligence, who like people, and show submissiveness towards stock but alertness towards changes in environment. Our goal is to produce balanced dogs that will be able to thrive on any farm or ranch!

Q. & A. with Laura

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have a working sheep and goat ranch. I needed Livestock Guardian Dogs to protect my lambs and goats from Bald eagles, Great-Horned owls, and Black bears. My first LGD was a Kangal Dog and I fell in love. As my operation expanded, I needed more working pairs, so I began breeding my Kangal Dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

I think my Kangal Dogs are wonderful and people who meet them agree! My dogs happily meet your eyes and are willing to say hello, then go on about their job. My dogs are smart about their job, serious about dealing with predators, but are not idiot barkers. I breed dogs who are zero threat to strangers, but 100% effective predator deterrent. I have lost no stock to predators in 15 years.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
