I'm Scarlett L., the breeder behind High Lonesome located in Tombstone, AZ. We live off grid in the high desert where we work toward a life that is simple, sustainable, and deeply connected to the land. Every part of our homestead is built by hand, from the gardens to the barns to the spaces where our animals are raised. We believe that a strong and healthy dog begins with a strong and healthy environment, and that is the heart of our program. Our puppies are raised in the center of our family life. They are handled daily by our children and grow up around cats, dogs, poultry, and livestock. This steady and natural exposure teaches them confidence, respect, and calm behavior. They learn to navigate real experiences, real sounds, and real life. This creates puppies that settle easily into busy homes, quiet homes, or working homes with equal success. We put great care into selecting parents based on health, temperament, structure, and working ability. We value the traditions of responsible breeding and we believe in transparency and honesty with every family. Our dogs receive clean food, fresh air, physical activity, and consistent hands on attention. They are raised with purpose, not in a rushed or crowded setting. Every puppy is given personal care from the moment it arrives. We guide them through early socialization, exposure to farm life, and gentle handling that prepares them for a confident future. By the time they go home they understand the world in a practical way and carry a steady presence that families appreciate. We are proud of the life we live and the animals we raise. Families who want breeders that honor the heritage of the breed, value health and sound minds, and put real effort into raising well rounded puppies will feel at home with us. Our purpose is simple. Raise good dogs, treat families right, and stand behind every puppy with the same integrity that guides our life on the homestead.

“Our puppies reflect the level of care, intention, and ethical breeding that is woven into our entire homestead. We choose every pairing with purpose, focusing on health, temperament, and sound structure. All parents are fully health tested and come from lines known for strong minds and steady bodies. The puppies are raised in the center of our daily life. They grow up with children, cats, dogs, and farm animals, which gives them a natural confidence that cannot be taught in a confined setting. They experience real world sights and sounds and learn to adapt with ease. We handle each puppy every day and guide them through early development stages that build healthy habits and stable behavior. They receive clean food, fresh air, and constant hands on care. This creates dogs that walk into their new homes with calmness, intelligence, and a solid foundation already in place. Families choose us because they know our dogs are raised with honesty, tradition, and the kind of daily effort that cannot be rushed. The value of these puppies is found in their upbringing, their health, and the respect we bring to every step of the process. We reserve puppies for families based on their commitment. When a puppy is held, we stop accepting other inquiries for that spot and begin planning our care, scheduling, and evaluations around that reservation. The deposit protects the time, resources, and preparation that go into raising each litter. It also ensures that every puppy is matched with a family that is fully ready and serious about bringing a dog home. This creates stability for the puppies, for us as breeders, and for the families who are waiting patiently for their turn. The deposit is applied toward the final purchase price and confirms your place in line. It allows us to focus on raising the puppies with the attention they deserve without last minute cancellations or changes that can disrupt their placement. It is a simple and fair way to honor our time, our work, and the needs of the puppies we raise.”

Scarlett got us a great Samoyed and he really has been such a ball of joy! We couldn’t be happier with all the help and effort getting him to us. He was a single litter pup and really has been special. We would definitely recommend getting Samoyeds from Scarlett and are lucky we found her being from South Carolina!

I bought a Samoyed puppy for my niece, her absolute dream dog. The entire experience was incredible. Scarlett has been such a joy to work with from start to finish. Our puppy came with everything we could’ve imagined and more. I loved receiving weekly updates and photos. My niece was completely in love with him long before he even went home. He's so cute, I could have easily kept him myself. Also Scarlett really went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect with our puppy, he was checked before coming home by a veterinarian, vaccinated, and also microchipped. Scarlett also sent an adorable goodie bag that made the homecoming even more special. This has truly been one of the best decisions ever. I couldn’t be happier, and my niece is over the moon. Highly recommend! 🐾🤍
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
