I'm Hillary R., the breeder behind Hillary Rowley-Weiss located in Seville, OH. The best part about a German shepherd is their versatility. I use lines that have proven longevity and success in high impact work, are healthy, and structurally correct. I breed per the SV regulations of German Shepherd Dogs in Germany.
Q. & A. with Hillary
Why did you start breeding?
My primary motivation is to have healthy top level competition dogs and pets. I breed for myself. I will not breed a litter I would not keep something from, nor will I keep or use a dog who doesn’t meet my expectations for a breed-worthy animal.
What makes your program special?
I try to be a breeder from whom I would feel comfortable buying a puppy. Helpful and educational to those new to the German shepherd, and responsible for creating and raising good representations of the breed.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include long and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Yvey
Yvey is a willing partner, very trainable in obedience. She has excellent grips and genetically strong tracking. She has an impressive and proven pedigree for working. She has shown at 2 regional championships and 2 national championships. She is 5x IGP3, orthopedically sound, embark clear, DM clear, LUW0. Her temperament off the field is ideal. She is a great house dog and can be in public without worries of social sharpness or environmental sensitivity (slick floors, gunshots, etc). She is dog neutral. All of the puppies from her first litter who have been tested have passing hips/elbows/spine. 2 of them are already titled at 2 years old. She carries for long coat and black, but with this combination the puppies will only be carriers or clear for the long coat gene. Preference will be given to sport homes or active homes with breed experience. Referrals and training videos available upon request.
Hillary Rowley-Weiss reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Full Embark Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
