I'm Jenny M., the breeder behind Hillside Shepards located in Freedom, NY. We work hard to produce healthy, well-rounded German Shepherd puppies that will make others as happy as our dogs have made us! We have developed several protocols to ensure the health and well-being of all of our dogs. It’s our top priority to make sure each of our puppy families welcomes a happy and healthy new family member into their homes!

Why did you start breeding?
A long love of healthy dogs led me to breeding healthy well rounded and family socialized dogs. We strive to continue to better the breed.What makes your program special?
We only selectively breed for well tempered healthy shepherds. All potential breeding pairs are health screened and behavioral screened to achieve great dogs in our program.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include plush and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

About Rylie
Rylie is a female German Shepherd. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Jenny decided to make her part of their program. Jenny has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Parent health testing

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
