I'm Derra G., the breeder behind Hoodview Havanese located in Milwaukie, OR. We are breeders who are dedicated to raising and breeding healthy, balanced, happy AKC Havanese. Our dogs are health and temperament tested, trained, well fed, well groomed and much loved! We welcome you to come meet our family and enjoy these wonderful animals!

Why did you start breeding?
When I was a child we had a dog who had a litter of puppies. She had them in my bed! I played with them every day and trained them they were complete mutts but at 8 weeks old they came to their names were mostly housebroken and had no puppy biting. All the people who adopted them said they were the best dogs they ever had. My parents said I had a gift. I guess the rest is history.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are first our pets. Well trained, healthy and happy. Our dogs are genetic tested, hips, hearts, eyes and patellas are OFA certified and temperament tested. Our puppies are raised with older people and children. We use the Badass Breeder protocol to ensure our puppies are confident and resilient!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, black, fawn sable, and red sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Derra
Derra has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $2,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“This price is for AKC registration papers, 2 year health guarantee, Trupanion pet insurance, microchip and first vaccine. Your deposit holds your puppy for you and goes towards your total purchase price.”
Contract & health guarantee
Derra may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
