Hounds of Laureate

Monica E.

Breeder of Borzois

Meet the breeder

I'm Monica E., the breeder behind Hounds of Laureate located in Shelton, WA. Our dogs and pups are raised in our home and are loved as family. We strive to produce high-quality show prospects and companions. Our goal is to produce puppies that are capable of participating in sports and conformation, but that are also happy to be companionable, entertaining house dogs that enjoy quieter moments as well. We want our pups to be adaptable and thrive with their families wherever they are.

Q. & A. with Monica

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was mentored by a long time breeder and decided that I wanted to carry the bloodlines that I love forward so they're not lost. I want to continue the tradition of beautiful, healthy, conformationally correct Borzoi who are a joy to live with into the future so others can experience them, too.
  • What makes your program special?

I'm a small scale preservation breeder who focuses on health, conformation, and temperament. All of my dogs are house dogs (and bed dogs!) and I breed infrequently so my numbers are few. I've produced multiple Top Ten ranked AKC conformation champions (including an All Breed Best In Show winner), top producers, and Best In Field lure coursers.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
