Meet the breeder

I'm Grace S., the breeder behind Howixx German Shepherds located in Portland, TN. Our dogs are bred for good health and temperament. We extensively health test all our breeding dogs, and every dog we produce is backed by a 26 month health guarantee. I believe in setting puppies up for success for their new homes. All of our puppies are raised inside our home and exposed to everyday noises and stimuli.

Getting a puppy from Grace

Grace has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Grace partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We take great care to ensure every puppy is placed in the home that best suits their unique temperament, energy level, and future lifestyle. Here’s how our placement process works: 1. Reservation and Availability When puppies are born, reservations are taken by gender only, not by specific puppy. This allows us to match each puppy based on temperament rather than appearance alone. We’ll always let you know how many spots are still available for each gender. 2. Temperament Testing (7–8 Weeks) Between 7–8 weeks of age, each puppy goes through a temperament evaluation. This helps us understand their individual personalities, energy levels, confidence, and social tendencies. The results of this testing guide placement — ensuring that families are matched with a puppy whose personality fits their goals and lifestyle. 3. Matching Puppies to Families Placements are based on suitability first, as determined by temperament testing. However, we do take your preferences into account (such as color or personality traits you’re drawn to). If more than one puppy is a good match for your family, you’ll be able to choose from those suitable options. 4. Special Considerations Our higher-drive, sportier puppies are matched with working or sport homes, while our calmer, family-oriented puppies are placed in companion homes. This ensures every puppy thrives in the right environment — and every family ends up with the perfect fit.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

“All puppies go home with AKC registration, Health exam, clear fecals, & shots by a licensed Vet, microchipped, and small bag of food they are on. Deposits are generally non refundable, however we understand life happens so deposits are transferable to a future litter.”

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Spine (OFA, FCI), Hock Osteochondrosis Dissecans (OCD), Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
