I'm Penelope H., the breeder behind Hudson's Hounds located in Hernando, MS. We are Penelope and Derek Hudson. We have two daughters, Hallie Grace & Harper. We are a Basset Hound obsessed family located in Hernando, Mississippi. We are NOT full-time breeders. We typically only have 1 litter every 2 or 3 years. Hudson's Hounds is our family passion project.

Why did you start breeding?
We are not full-time breeders. We are a Basset Hound obsessed family. We have owned atleast one, but usually 3 or 4, AKC and/or CKC Bassets since 2005. We only breed once every 2 or 3 years. Hudson's Hounds is our family passion project.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include lemon and white, red and white, black and brown, and black brown and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Penelope
Penelope has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and between $400 - $1,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes the AKC and/or CKC Registration documents, first round of vaccinations, deworming, shot record, complete linage documents on sire & dam, and puppy socialization. Most deposits are non-refundable but we do refund based on unusual circumstances. For example, if someone puts a deposit down on a litter still in gestation for a male and no male is spawned.”

Penelope may provide a written contract or
health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps
protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you
both have a clear understanding of the terms of your
puppy purchase. If Penelope offers a contract
or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
