Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Ides of March Picards located in Randleman, NC. I raise Berger Picards, a rare French herding breed. I focus on preserving correct temperament, structure, and herding ability.

Q. & A. with Jennifer

  • Why did you start breeding?

A breeder sold me a puppy that initially was intended to be a pet. She grew up and proved to be an excellent example of the breed, not only in her structure and temperament but particularly in her work ethic and drive. Because of these traits, her breeder and I felt she could make a strong contribution to our rare breed.
  • What makes your program special?

I think my focus on producing the “total” dog, with the ability to perform well in the show ring, compete in multiple canine sports, maintain herding instinct, and still be fabulous pets and family members sets me apart from the majority of Picard breeders. I actively train and compete with all of my dogs; I “walk the walk.”
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
