Q. & A. with William
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding when I realized many individuals were not interested in the quality of pups they were creating, only the money they were trying to make. A good breeder will ensure the bloodline is exceptional, all testing and health checks are good and each potential home for their pups are vetted and approved to continue the excellence in breeding.
What makes your program special?
We only select the perfect studs with exceptional health and temperament as ours to ensure the most perfect future bloodline. The stud owner must also possess the same vision and qualifications as we do. Our goal is to pass on and continue an exceptional breed of GSD.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Mia
Mia is a very loving, gentle giant. She can't help but greet everybody with her favorite toy. Don't even mention the word ride, Mia will grab her leash and beat you to the door. Mia definitely prefers to be by your side yet is absolutely secure enough to stay home for several hours by herself. Of course, bedtime for Mom and Dad means she knows it's her bedtime as well and she will follow us to the bedroom. Mia lives to play with other dogs of all size and age. Her best friend at home is a flame point siamese cat.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Iron Crest Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
