Gordon Setter
About Ruby
Ruby is truly the perfect family dog. She’s affectionate and gentle at home, yet she also shines in the field with impressive bird drive, strong pointing instinct, and a natural love for the water. She comes from a long line of accomplished hunting and field trial dogs—her mother, whom I personally titled as a Master Hunter, is a testament to that heritage. Ruby is one of the nicest, most well‑rounded dogs I’ve seen in a long time.
She’s intelligent, eager to please, and always ready to do what’s being asked of her, whether that means showing off her bird drive in the field or simply being by your side at home.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Jodi's Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Gordon Setters.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
DNA Disease Panel, DNA Repository
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
