I'm Valeria & John R., the breeder behind JOVAL Airedales located in Haymarket, VA. Having been in Airedales since 1985, for Valeria it been a life-long love affair with the Airedale breed. John "married into" Airedales. Soon after, the JOVAL Kennel ... (JOhn&VALeria)... was formed. It has been a partnership ever since. A "Special-Social Assistant" to JOVAL is our daughter Olivia.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Being a veterinarian, Valeria pays special attention to the health & temperament of every dog in the breeding program and the way every puppy is raised & socialized. John, with his computer background, takes care of all of the social media - website, FaceBook, etc and also leverages his photographic talents to these and for those puppy-pictures that everyone loves.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Valeria & John

Valeria & John has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Valeria & John partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

Price

Puppy prices include a $1,600 deposit and $1,600 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“We must review all applications and OUR CUSTOM QUESTIONNAIRE (completed on our JOVAL site) BEFORE we will Request/Accept a deposit. All deposits MUST be accompanied by our Executed Deposit Agreement. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.. but... they are TRANSFERRABLE from one litter to another. You will never loose your deposited money, however you may need to wait a little longer until the "right puppy for you" is available.”

Contract & health guarantee

Valeria & John may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Protein-Losing Nephropathy (PLN; NPHS1 Gene Variant), DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
