I'm Aliya T., the breeder behind Kel Imajaghan located in Philadelphia, PA. In many parts of the world this primitive is categorized as a sighthound, but a rigid interpretation of or strict reliance upon this appellation can lead to confusion and miscommunication. Many of the sighthound type dogs are aloof. But the Azawakh takes it a step further: they are avoidant. They are also highly territorial. Fiercely loyal, they form an exclusive attachment with their master; with strangers, or in unfamiliar situations, they can be extremely reserved, even unapproachable. As with any generalization there are exceptions, but no amount of training or socialization can completely over-ride the primordial distrust and suspicion of 'other' which forms the basis for their reactions to stimuli. With their master and with those they trust, they are independent, playful and gentle. But in every situation they remain alert to the slightest change in their environment.Please contact us for more information. Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding Azawakh as a natural progression from showing this wonderful breed, that is indigenous to where my ancestors are from, West Africa. My goal is the preserve the Azawakh in its original form as it currently exists in West Africa, the countries of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.What makes your program special?
My breeding program is special in the sense that I am working to keep the Azawakh and its heritage alive for others to enjoy. I do not believe in close line breeding/inbreeding. The COI(coefficient of inbreeding) on any of my puppies will always be under 10% for 7-10 generations. The close inbreeding of a breed with such a small gene pool is a recipe for increased heredity and genetic diseases.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include brown, sandy, fawn, brindle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

“All puppies are the same price regardless of sex, and color. Deposit will be added to the purchase price of the puppy and must be paid in full by the time the puppy is 8 weeks old, if applicable.”

Toumour is my first azawakh. He's a half desert bred dog, meaning that one of his parents was born in the native country of Mali. He was the first azawakh in my home to receive his Certificate of Merit. He was also one of the first 10 azawakh to receive the Certificate of Merit awards as a requirement for eventual acceptance into the hound group for the AKC.

About Bahir
Bahir is my newest male I have included in my breeding program. At the age of just one year, he was featured in the AKC Meet the Breeds, National Dog Show press kit. He was also featured in my local newspaper and was the first azawakh to be shown in the group ring at the National Dog Show. He is an impressive 29 inches at the shoulder, and has an excellent temperament. His show career is going to be bright.
