I'm Kristine H., the breeder behind Kessel Run Icelandic Sheepdogs located in Kentwood, MI. All puppies are also raised inside of our home and handled and adored daily! We raise our puppies using Puppy Culture and Avidog protocols to ensure they have the best possible start to life. Puppies are not first come first serve, we chose placements based on the best fit for that individual puppy.
Q. & A. with Kristine
Why did you start breeding?
I stumbled across Icelandic Sheepdogs one day at a dog show. The more I learned about them the more I realized they were the perfect breed for me. I was hooked and brought home my first Icelandic named Inara a few years later. I am passionate about well-bred dogs, and dog conformation, structure, and what it takes to improve a breed.
What makes your program special?
At the end of the day, I want to breed dogs that are easy to live with, able to do the job they were originally bred for, able to do various dog sports, and still competitive in the breed ring. Temperament is very important to me, an icie should be social and confident. I strive to preserve these characteristics while breeding dogs that have correct conformation and strong breed type.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
