I'm Leigh D., the breeder behind King Swiss Acres of North Texas located in Justin, TX. Our litters are produced sparingly so that specialized and devoted attention can be invested in each Dam and puppy. We take a very natural (vice scientific) approach to raising and training our puppies that involves much time, love, fun and affection. We look forward to connecting with you!
Q. & A. with Leigh
Why did you start breeding?
I bred my first dog, a black Lab, when everyone kept telling me they wish they had a "dog just like her." She produced a perfect litter of 10 pups that were snatched up by family and friends immediately. I then discovered Bernese Mountain Dogs and bred my two girls every few years to satisfy requests for puppies and have had at least 3-4 returning buyers. In the last few years, I have become more committed to a formal breeding program. It has been an absolute joy of a journey, and I am so happy to be able to share these wonderful dogs with other loving families and individuals.
What makes your program special?
Although I follow regulations, research extensively, and listen to the advice of my vets and other professionals, my program is a natural and committed one. I don't follow the protocols of genetics and scientific study, but rather approach raising/training my puppies with their future homes in mind. They want a life of reciprocal love, care, and protection and that is what I strive to provide them in my home. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black rust and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
