Meet the breeder

I'm Shelby Y., the breeder behind Kyon Kennel LLC located in Higbee, MO. We are a family-run business that breeds AKC registered German Shepherds. It is our goal to offer you, top-quality puppies! All of our parent dogs are health tested by Embark and through OFA before breeding. We focus on health, temperament and enrichment for the perfect family or working dog!

Q. & A. with Shelby

  • Why did you start breeding?

I originally bred Siberian Huskies with my parents when I was younger and fell in love with it! It made me so happy to watch the puppies grow then connect with their new families. When my husband and I met he had a wonderful German Shepherd named Vader and that’s when I fell in love with the breed! So in 2020 I took the plunge and purchased our first stud and began planning our program.
  • What makes your program special?

Our love for German Shepherds is reflected in the personal touch we put into our breeding program! We are dedicated to always providing you with a positive experience, which includes remaining committed to responsible practices when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming of puppies. All of our puppies are raised on Puppy Culture and Breeders Bootcamp for confident, well rounded puppies!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include plush, long, and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, isabella, panda, black and tan, bi-color, blue, and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience getting our puppy from Shelby. I got on the waitlist before her litter was born and she kept up communication and updates the whole pregnancy and once the pups were born. When there was an issue with the hair length tests, she handled it like a pro. We were able to pick the perfect puppy for us because of her and we have been so happy.

Shelby was amazing to work with. My husband and I have never worked with a breeder from another state so I was anxious at first. From the beginning, Shelby provided me with options on how to get our puppy to us and even made recommendations based on her personal experiences. She provided us with an extremely thorough log of our puppies vet visits and training schedule. When our puppy arrived, it was obvious that she was loved and well cared for. She adjusted better than any dog we’ve had. I cannot say enough good things about Shelby and want any anxious families or interested people to know that she is trustworthy and genuinely cares about animals.

They did very well! Even drove 40mil closer to me so it wasn’t too bad for me! Very kind, knowledgeable, and professional! They even explained everything to me of they’ve been doing to the puppy I got from them! They even documented everything! It was a nice touch! Thank you again Zeus loves his new home!
