Meet the breeder

I'm Kendra P., the breeder behind Legacy German Shepherds located in Custer County, SD. We raise healthy and beautiful German Shepherds. Our dogs are bred for temperament and health. All of our dogs have the original breed type standard build and drive. They are natural herders, fearless, loyal lovers of people, and faithful protectors. Some of our pups have gone on to therapy work, service work, and more!

Q. & A. with Kendra

  • Why did you start breeding?

When my husband and I married in 2009, I immediately started researching what breed of dog I wanted to have! I landed on the German Shepherd due to their loyalty, athleticism, beauty, brains, and size. I wanted a protector who was also a loyal friend. Over the past 12 years I have researched, learned and grown and now am incredibly passionate about the breed and doing things "the right way."
  • What makes your program special?

We have an open door policy. Potential puppy families are welcome to visit our ranch and meet every single one of my dogs. I am a practical dog owner who does the proper testing to ensure healthy animals. Our dogs make phenomenal family companions. If you are looking for a healthy, smart, beautiful German Shepherd with the "Rin Tin Tin" feel, look no further! Our dogs are all of that and more.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
