I'm Patty O., the breeder behind LionRidge Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Elbert, CO. I have been breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1991 and my successful program has been ranked 10 out of the top 25 Rhodesians. I have been recognized by the AKC as a Silver Breeder of Merit and am Gold level with the Canine Good Citizen National Club for my commitment to breeding structurally sound, healthy, and well-tempered puppies. In my in-home program, my dogs are companions first and foremost. I am dedicated to providing each of my puppies with loving and caring forever homes.

Why did you start breeding?
I have always loved Rhodesian Ridgebacks and was excited to establish my breeding program. I have enjoyed the journey, and I am a proud breeder with a focus on temperament and the overall mental and physical health of my puppies. I am passionate about placing happy, healthy puppies with loving families.
What makes your program special?
All of my puppies have access to 20 acres of fenced-in area to run and play, indoor and outdoor runs with soil ground, concrete crates with insular heating that they can go in and out of as they please. I consider all of my dogs to be beloved members of my family and give them plenty of love and care.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
