Meet the breeder

I'm Holley U., the breeder behind Maalattu Koirankoppi Lapponian Herders located in Prattsburgh, NY. I strive to produce genetically and physically healthy Lapponian Herders. As a long time admirer of this amazing breed, after owning them and loving them, I decided to become a breeder since the number of these dogs is so few in the United States. The versatility of these dogs is undeniable.

Q. & A. with Holley

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for the breed and their quiet, sensible demeanor as herding dogs. There's so few and breeders in the US, I decided I want to help promote and preserve this amazing breed.
  • What makes your program special?

What makes my program special is my puppies are raised in my home, exposed, desensitized and started on a basic education program. Parents are tested and matched accordingly to ensure the best cross for quality and functionality.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include liver, black and tan, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Holley

Holley partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“In addition to the screening process, I like to match puppy temperament and drive to the prospective home and what they're looking for and intend to do with their Lapponian Herder.”

Our experience with Holley was incredible. She was extremely responsive to all our questions about Lapponian Herders while we were learning more about the breed. She provided wonderful and frequent updates on the puppies, even before they were born! Holley took the time to understand what we wanted out of a dog and helped match us with a puppy that fit our needs and family. Picking our puppy up was smooth and you could see how much she cares and loves her dogs and the puppies. Our Lapponian Herder has been one of the best additions to our family, I cannot recommend Holley or this breed enough!
