I'm Nancy/Kristi T., the breeder behind Maererano Basenjis located in Lehi, UT. Our goal is to breed healthy, show-quality puppies with stable temperaments. The dogs that we breed have proven themselves in conformation and other dog sports, including lure-coursing and agility. They represent the breed standard, and our program's goal is to continually preserve and improve the breed. We find so much joy in watching our puppies grow and develop their own unique personalities. Why did you start breeding?
We got our first Basenji in 1995 and have shown and raised Basenjis since then. We do not breed often, but when we do our puppies are raised in our home and are socialized and worked with from the day they are born. We put a lot of our time, energy and love into our babies and look for the best homes possible for them.What makes your program special?
We follow PC protocols to ensure stable, confident and happy puppies. We have time for prospective puppy parents to come and meet the puppies and interact with them prior to going home. We love to have you come and pick up the puppy and are always willing to help you when questions come up. *PUPPIES PLACED IN PET HOMES WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED*What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red and white and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Program update on 20 Feb. •…The puppies wore themselves out playing and doing a little training learning how to walk with me up and down the hallway. Then they piled on my feet waiting for me to get dinner ready and several of them feel asleep in the crate after eating. Such sweet puppies! 🥰🥰🥰

Program update on 13 Feb. •…Are the puppies potty trained? NO! They are not potty trained, so I want to make sure you understand that upfront. They do have beginning potty skills that will be helpful when you are potty training your puppy. They are able to keep the overnight pen pretty clean, there are some poops on their grass area. They run from their crate straight outside and everyone goes potty - yes, even though it has been a lille chilly and even wet. Does that mean there are no accidents inside the house? NO, it does not mean that. They still have accidents when they are playing. Puppies this age do not have much control yet. What do I do? I clean it up quickly so nobody tracks through it! It is part of raising a puppy! I will send everyone some additional information about potty training when they get home! ❤️

About Dashie
Dashie is a MBIF, Multiple Group Placing, beautiful girl! She completed her CH at under 1 year, and went on to get her GCH before she was 2 years old with limited showing. She is a great Junior Dog, loves lure coursing, and has tried her "paw" at some agility as well. She does great at anything she is asked to do. She is also a loving and sweet girl with a calm personality.

Holly is the sweetest girl! She loves to cuddle and when we have any puppies, she can usually be found at the bottom of the puppy pile! She competes in conformation, lure coursing and some agility. She is a beautiful girl and does well in all of her activities.

About NDoti
This will be NDoti's last litter! She is a wonderful mother and has produced some beautiful babies. We are waiting on full health testing for the sire before we announce the father of this planned litter. NDoti is a very sweet girl. She LOVES to cuddle and will snuggle down whenever she can. She also LOVES to lure course, is an AKC Champion in conformation and a very beautiful girl. She is a loved member of our family and she will continue to run FastCats and Lure Coursing as well as doing some Agility going forward.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Fanconi Syndrome, PRA, Basenji Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
