I'm Bev H., the breeder behind Magnolia Prairie Doodles located in Lavon, TX. We have put a lot of time, effort and expense into educating ourselves, acquiring parents from good lines, and interacting with experts in the dog community so that we can give you healthy, beautiful, socialized, easily trained pets. Our dogs live in loving guardian homes or with us! No kennels!
Q. & A. with Bev
Why did you start breeding?
I retired from nursing and still wanted to "caregive". We previously bred golden retrievers and labrador retrievers. As we got a little older I was searching for a breed that is smaller/ easier to manage but still had the wonderful personalities of the goldens and labs. I came across the cavapoos and fell in love. The cavapoos have the temperament of the goldens and labs in a much smaller body.
What makes your program special?
We involve our grandkids to help socialize the puppies. Our females live in guardian homes, coming to us for birthing, returning home when puppies are 8 weeks old. Our dogs are never "sold off" when they no longer breed. Ownership is given to their guardians where they continue to live forever. We use the BABS Curriculum and give our dogs the very best in our quest to be ethical, quality breeders.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are toy size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include cream, black and white, red, and apricot. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Litter update on 13 Sept. •
Nolie only has one puppy left in her litter. Green Boy is the smallest of the litter. Expected to be around 10 pounds. He is a little on the shy side… for about 5 minutes. Then he will be your shadow. He loves to be held and snuggled. He has a beautiful, red, soft wavy coat like his momma. Red Boy watches the others try new things. When he’s ready, he’s all in. His favorite toy is his little tennis ball. He chases it and growls at it and rolls around with. His favorite trick is waiting till the others are sleeping then launching himself off the top of the slide onto the puppy pile and waking everyone up !! He has alot of personality packed into his cute little puppy body!

Litter update on 29 Aug. •
This week Izzys babies have been introduced to the potty box, they have moved into their bigger play area during the day, we have started them on goats milk with some dry kibble ground up in it, and we gave them their first stuffed toys to play with.
We wormed them for the second time, bathed them and trimmed their toenails.
When we walk into the room, they are starting to demand to be held. Of course, who can turn down those cute puppies?!
Mom is starting to spend a little bit of time away from them during the day, but still sleeps with them at night. Even when she’s not staying in there with them, she runs and checks on them every few minutes. She lets us know when she wants to get in to nurse them.

About Roxie
Roxie lives with our long time guardian and friend in a busy household. She is quiet and a little shy but in a few minutes she has warmed up to you and then is quite comfortable to hop up into your lap and keep you company. She's a wonderful momma and takes such good care of her babies. She is very laid back and always seems proud to show off her babies. Roxie has had no problems handling a large litter of 10 puppies. This litter of 6 is a piece of cake! She's very patient with them and just seems to have that natural "momma" gene.
Izzy, mom
Cavapoo
About Izzy
Izzy lives in a guardian home with a family who have 3 children. The youngest is a 5 year old with Down's Syndrome. Izzy is his self appointed guardian and immediately notifies the mom by barking if he wanders out the door or gets in another other danger. She has "service" in her DNA. She is a love bug to the other kids and they can't remember life without their girl. Everyone wishes they could have an "Izzy". She is the daughter of our foundation dog "Magnolia" and the first one of our own puppies we ever kept to become a breeding momma. Her personality was so outstanding I just couldn't give her up.
Nolie, mom
Cavapoo
About Nolie
Magnolia Jo "Nolie" is my foundation dog. She was the first cavapoo I fell in love with. With her beautiful red coat with loose, wavy curls, she has many of the gorgeous features of the Cavalier, including the huge brown eyes you can't say "no" to. She is a wonderful momma and takes such good care of her babies. This is her final litter with Oliver who has sired her other litters. (Why mess with perfection, right?) She is gentle and patient with them but corrects them and teaches them. She would love to be the momma to all of our puppies and often tries to "help" the other mommas. I think she'll be sad to not have any more babies after this but we don't call her "Aunt Nolie" for no reason. This litter is bittersweet.
Ollie, dad
Poodle
About Ollie
Ollie (Oliver Theodore) is a spunky red toy poodle who can run and be crazy with the best of them and then climb into your lap for a long cuddle and snooze. Every dog is his new best friend and every person he comes in contact with gets a generous supply of love from Ollie. He would love to be a super involved "dad" to his babies..if mom would just let him come into the room!
Suki, mom
Cavapoo
About Suki
Suki is a beautiful black and silver Merle. She weighs 13 lbs. Her happy forever home with her guardian family let’s her spend her days with her realtor mom hanging in the office or going to showings. Her manners are impeccable and she impresses folks wherever she goes between her striking good looks and her pleasing personality. This will be her final litter!
Rocky, dad
Poodle
About Rocky

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
About Libby/Just retired after her 2nd litter. Returning to her forever home where she will live as a princess.
Libby is a beautiful pedigreed AKC King Charles Cavalier. She weighs about 20 lbs and is a diva for sure. Her favorite bonding activity is having her esrs combed. She loves it and would sit for hours being spoiled and pampered by her guardian, Karen. Libby also lives with Maggie who was a puppy we bred 9 years ago. Maggie is a chocolate lab and the two of them are best friends. Libby is an awesome momma and we can’t wait to see her babies!

Poodle
About Lucy/Retired and living happily in her forever home where she has been since a puppy
Beautiful red standard AKC registered poodle. Carries herself like royalty. Head and tale up, sits erect. We always get comments on what a beauty she is! Very loyal to her people. Walks off leash. Low prey drive. Has been a wonderful, attentive momma to her first litter but took a lot of encouragement at first. We have decided we want to stick with cavapoos and not breed bigger dogs so we turned ownership over to her guardian family, who were ecstatic!

About Ginger/Retired after 2 litters and living happily in her forever home where she has been since she was a puppy
Ginger is our newest momma. She lives in a home with 3 kids who absolutely adore her. As a homeschool family, our guardian family is going to be very involved with Ginger and her litter. They will be helping to socialize her puppies and doing somebody’s actual caregiving. Not only are we excited but her guardian family can hardly wait for her babies to be born.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Magnolia Prairie Doodles reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Cavapoos.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Full Embark Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
