I'm AMY T., the breeder behind Mandala Dogs located in Grand Rapids, MI. After many years of working in the veterinary and dog training industry, I realized that the best way to help my clients find safe, sound pet and sport dogs was to breed and train them myself. These dogs enrich our lives so profoundly, and we would love to share their gifts with you!
Q. & A. with AMY
Why did you start breeding?
I have helped many training clients work through behavior issues stemming from poor breeding lack of socialization. After retiring from rescue work, I began exploring breeding as a way to solve the common behavior and health issues that we see in many pet dog homes. Starting with extensive health screening, I began building my foundation stock of intelligent, co-operative, intuitive family pets.
What makes your program special?
My dogs are able to act as class demo dogs, engage in sport training, and fit seamlessly into our busy family life. Wether it's heading to 4-H Dog Club with the kids, binging Netflix all weekend on the couch, going on vacation with us, trialling in rally, obedience or other sports, or getting dropped off at Grandma and Grandpa's while we head out of town, our dog family handles it all in stride.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies include small, medium, and large sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth, wirehaired, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn, black, black and white, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Jemma, mom
Lurcher
About Jemma
Jemma is a beloved member of our family, and our teenager's 4-H training dog. She enjoys rally and obedience, will do agility, although it's not her favorite, and shines in showmanship (4-H version of conformation). She is truly a couch princess. She will go out and have fun, hiking, swimming, walking the neighborhood, but she is her happiest curled up on the couch, preferably with a fuzzy blanket, getting a foot massage or holding your hand with her paw. Yes, this is a thing. She is aloof to strangers, both human and canine, but warms up quickly when making friends. She has a beautiful but low-maintenance coat, moderate spaniel features, and a delightful combination of inteligence and mischief.
