I'm Brooke L., the breeder behind Markenhaus Working German Shepherds located in Chambersburg, PA. We are a small breeding program that produces active family and working dogs with excellent temperaments and drives. Our German Shepherds come from titled, health tested, imported Czech females that are family pets first. Each pup is cherished from the moment of birth and given the best start that we can possibly provide.
Q. & A. with Brooke
Why did you start breeding?
I looked for two years before finding the right dog. I don’t think a breeding dog should live in a kennel and perform on the field; rather, they should excel both on the field and as family members. My puppies are healthy, vet checked, well socialized, and raised in the home. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same joy that I've found in raising these wonderful dogs.
What makes your program special?
I breed with the goal of producing excellent, proven German Shepards. Breeding is not a business for me, and therefore I am dedicated to ensuring that puppies are going to the best homes and leave prepared to excel in various venues including Schutzhund, personal protection, search and rescue, and make excellent active family pets.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
