Meet the breeder
I'm Renee M., the breeder behind Mielikki's Hunt located in Maryland. We breed for temperament and health. Borzoi are too big to be anything but gregarious. Dogs of our breeding have gone on to be titled in ASFA/AKC coursing, LGRA/NOTRA racing, specialty winners, and obedience and rally competitors as well as therapy dogs. Our newest venue has been trick dog, and we just titled our first Trick Champion! Note: We require a fenced in yard. This is a breed that can not be raised properly without access to a safely fenced in yard to play. They can not be trusted off leash. They can get up to 36 mph within 5 bounds chasing rabbits, squirrels, anothe dog, etc.

Why did you start breeding?
We are a rare breed. There are approximately 450 puppies born in the US, which equals to 7 puppies a state in any one year. So please have patience while looking for a puppy. I am devoted to breeding happy & healthy Borzois for others to enjoy, & do so responsibly & Adhering to the national club standard for all recommended health screening tests is paramount to my dogs’ wellbeingWhat makes your program special?
My dogs are health tested and CHIC certified in canine health. I am home to many group and specialty winners, best in field winners, top performance dogs, obedience and rally dogs, therapy dogs, and all around great family companions! I am dedicated to continuing my phenomenal bloodlines in an effort to provide my Borzoi families with loving, healthy, and happy puppies Note: I do not sell dogs to Western USA. . Price
"The price includes a replacement guarantee if a dog is lost to bloat/heart/cancer before the age of 7. There are rebates for health testing on pets at age 5. . I ask for a deposit when I assign a puppy to the owner."

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation , Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
