Meet the breeder

I'm Sarah B., the breeder behind M&M Shepherd Farms located in Watervliet, MI. Our dogs are bred for temperament, health, and confirmation. We study lineages very closely. We specialize in helping families who need service or therapy prospects as our dogs have ideal temperaments for this work. We are a small kennel and all of our breeding dogs live in our home and are family.

Q. & A. with Sarah

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always loved animals and nature. Science and biology was always my favorite in school. I love studying genetics and learning everything I can! My passion for animals and learning with such love for this breed is what inspired me to start my program.
  • What makes your program special?

We are much different than a lot of breeders out there. Our dogs are welcome on our furniture, in our bed, on our couch, and are family! Our dogs see the vet yearly, and are very well cared for. They receive Birthday and Christmas presents. We feed top of the line food, and they even come on trips with us during the rare times we can get away! We have 20 acres they get to run and play on.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, isabella, black and red, blue, and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I had a great experience working with Sarah during the adoption process of my 3 year old German Shepherd, Kodii. Sarah was always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and support us throughout each step, which made Kodii’s transition to our home very smooth. Kodii is a wonderful dog, very well behaved and an affectionate companion, and we’re truly excited to have him as part of our family. Thank you Sarah and M&M Shepherd Farms!

If you're looking for a caring, responsive, kind, and extremely knowledgeable breeder, look no further — Sarah is ALL of that and so much more. This isn't a"job" for her, it's a passion and you can tell that from the second you speak with her. She loves all the dogs in her care, like they're her most precious babies, because, they are! My dog, Lupo, is home and doing brilliantly and I know that's in large part because of Sarah and M&M Shepherd Farms. He is honestly more than I could've imagined. Sarah is the only person I'll ever be looking to for a puppy. I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things. She's thorough and sends you home with a full informational packet and treats. She updates you on the pups status multiple times a week and gives you perrsonal updates on your pup, which was the highlight of the days leading up to getting him. She responds within minutes if not seconds and is so gracious in answering ALL your questions, no matter how silly — she never made me feel like I was bothering her. She's even continued to answer my questions since he' been home. She's a real class act and knows this breed inside and out. I'm so greatful I found her and that my boy was so loved and cared for in his first 9 weeks of life. Thank you, Sarah!

Sarah was very responsive through the app. The updates were frequent and added to the excitement of preparing to pick up Reese (Banjo). He is everything she described he would be. His temperament is great for our family. He’s got puppy antics and wonder, and he’s got a nap button when it’s time to chill.

M&M Shepard farms did such an amazing job with setting up our puppy with the proper tools for success and it shows. He is a very confident boy who learns things so amazingly fast. Sarah is a great resource for information and has really made sure she provides information to the people buying puppies to help ensure they succeed too. Cannot say enough good things about this breeder.
