I'm Meg M., the breeder behind Montgomery Royale Kooikerhondjes located in Liberty Lake, WA. The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is an ancient, agile, versatile sporting breed originally from Holland, officially recognized by the AKC in 2018.
I am dedicated to upholding the integrity of the Nederlandse Kolkerhondje breed type, temperament, and function. Kooikers are not only beautiful, intelligent, devoted, loving family companions they are also well suited for competition in activities beyond duck tolling, such as agility, obedience, nose work, barn hunt, fast cat, dock diving and much more. They are a sensitive and devoted breed that tend to be territorial and must be intentionally socialized, especially with children.
My puppies are raised at home with an active and diverse family of varied ages and abilities. They will share their first home with a cat and will meet other dogs here as well. I follow Avidog's science-based puppy raising methods in order to produce healthy, mentally and physically sound puppies that are prepared to thrive in their new roles and homes.
Q. & A. with Meg
Why did you start breeding?
I have always cared deeply about the well-being of animals and especially dogs. Because of this passion, I decided years ago to become a breeder! I have enjoyed raising many litters in the past and have enjoyed following my pups' journeys as companions and working dogs. I took a decade long break from breeding while raising a large family of humans... that never quite seems to stop growing. I am excited to
have a new litter and for all of the updated knowledge I am gaining through Avidog University. I am devoted to ensuring there are happy and healthy Nederlandse Kooikerhondje for others to enjoy.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program stands out amongst others because of the personal attention I give to every detail of the journey. I am very dedicated to what I do and what I aim to achieve as a breeder. I am a big believer in applied science and I work with passion, heart, and integrity. I remain available to my buyers and enjoy following my pups throughout their lives.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Freya
Freya is a beautiful girl with a very nice temperament. She is playful, intelligent, engaging and affectionate. Although she can be a sensitive girl and prefers calm instruction, Freya has been raised in a behaviorally diverse, large family and especially loves children. She is tolerant of quite challenging behaviors and energy related to autism and other special needs. Freya enjoys other dogs and cats, LOVES to swim and to make sure that everybody is safe in the pool. She considers herself the gate keeper and announcer of the home, but is quickly affectionate to those granted entry and all who offer treats.
