I'm Barbara C., the breeder behind Moonstone Weimaraners located in Sarasota Fl, FL. Weimaraners are our passion! We have been showing and breeding for over 25 years. We breed infrequently with the sole purpose of preserving our blood lines while improving the breed. Our focus is on beauty, health, longevity, soundness, temperament and performance. We have produced numerous champions and Grand champions, WCA Futurity and Maturity winners, WCA Futurity/Maturity placing puppies, multiple BISS winners, Group winners, Top Five Weimaraners, multiple Eukanuba Award of Merit (AOM) winners and versatile/Junior and Master Hunter titled weimaraners. Our weimaraners are great home companions and we are happy to provide references.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Spinal Dysraphism (SD), Hyperuricosuria (HUU), Hypomyelination, Weimaraner Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
