I'm Janet A., the breeder behind Morozova Borzoi located in Valleyford, WA. I have owned and shown Borzoi for 40 years. I mainly breed Champion females to Champion sires. I sell to both show and pet homes. With as much involvement in the breed and with the experienced I have gained over the years, I am able to breed the highest quality dogs. I don't take any shortcuts and do everything to better the breed.
Q. & A. with Janet
Why did you start breeding?
Recently a young person who was fairly new to showing dogs, asked me how she could get better dogs. I told her to start with the best female she could buy, find a good mentor, then breed for 40 years. I have been very fortunate to be able to breed to outstanding sires. Other breeders have always been very generous in allowing me to use their great dogs. Always go for the best, but choose carefully.
What makes your program special?
For 40 years, I have been carefully linebreeding and then outcrossing. I have always selected for breed type, soundness, temperament, and overall beauty. I follow the rule of form follows function. A Borzoi that moves correctly will probably be a borzoi that has good conformation.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
