Meet the breeder

I'm Mary R., the breeder behind Mountain Laurel Samoyeds located in Reinholds, PA. Our priorities include breeding for exceptional temperament, as well as the beauty of the breed, and always first and foremost, great health. We are intentionally small scale and intend to remain that way. Our puppies are healthy, affectionate, beautiful and intelligent, the perfect therapy dog, companion , or exercise buddy. Always intelligent and eager to please, they will need a lot of exercise mentally and physically, besides being great for cuddles!

Q. & A. with Mary

  • Why did you start breeding?

From the first time I ever saw a picture of a Samoyed I knew that would be my dog if I ever had one. I started breeding around 2016, and I am still convinced that this is definitely the breed for me. However, I have hqd no desire to breed on a large scale, and have had only Radja and Kaya for the past few years. I finally found my Arctic Snow Princess, who is ready to have her first litter this year.
  • What makes your program special?

We are very small scale breeders, intentionally, for ethical and health reasons. Health is top priority to me and part of the reason I moved to this lovely little acreage in the woods, also for more space for the dogs. We are very careful of our dogs' contacts. Food has pasture raised lamb or chicken for the first ingredient, and we supplement with raw meat. We advocate getting as close to the wild as possible with diet as well as lifestyle for your canine companion. We're happy to accommodate anyone who would rather not do the vaccinations . Instead of all the meds available for deworming and giardia, we have discovered a wonderful natural alternative that has effectively treated giardia for us. We still use some of the conventional deworming products, but far less than most breeders , as we strive for gut health in your puppy.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

What first attracted me to Mary, the breeder/owner of Mt Laurel Samoyeds, was the beauty of her 2 samoyeds. Radzha and Kaya are 2 of the most beautiful Samoyeds I have ever seen. Then after putting down a deposit for a puppy, we got frequent pics and updates on Kayas pregnancy, including pics of the growing mamma. Once the puppies were born, Mary sent frequent and very detailed updates on everyone's progress, including mamma Kaya. At about 4 weeks old Mary then started sending pics, videos, and detailed characteristic traits about each puppy. She was in constant contact with us throughout the puppies 8 weeks with her. On the day of pick up, we were welcomed in and got to meet, mamma, and poppa and the litter. It was one of the best puppy adoption experiences I have ever had. And our puppy....she is the most beautiful little fur baby. Her hair is the softest I have ever felt on a Samoyed. Her personality is loving, snuggler, but with so much spirit and toughness about her!! She and our 1 yo male Samoyed are already inseparable and love each other so much. He doesn't leave her side. And she is absolutely stunning!!! I couldn't be happier!! Thank you so so so much Mary, for all that you have given us and to Kaya and Radzha for sharing your beautiful baby girl with us.
