Meet the breeder

I'm Harvey H., the breeder behind Mountain Star Kennels located in Shelton, WA. Due to age and health we are closing down Mountain Star Kennels. We would like to thank all our friends and puppy buyers. It's been a fun 40 year run but all good things come to an end. We have 4 IRWS adult dogs we would like to place in loving forever homes. We have 2 3+ year old girls who would be eligible for a breeding home but a pet home would be fine. We also have 2 a male and female older dogs 10 and 11 both very healthy and active who would love to spend there old age with a loving family. All homes will be carefully vetted.

Q. & A. with Harvey

  • Why did you start breeding?

Labs were our first love, and we have owned Labs for over thirty years. Our first pure Lab came to us at a time when our younger son was engaged in 4-H, and she launched us into the world of training and eventually breeding this wonderful breed.
  • What makes your program special?

All labs are bred to hunt; some have greater drive and more intensity than others. We have endeavored to keep our dogs within the accepted AKC Show Standard and keep a strong hunting drive. Our dog's temperament tends to be much mellower than those that are bred strictly for hunting.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
