I'm Kathleen K., the breeder behind Musashi Japanese Chin located in Snohomish, WA. Founded in 2002. I’m a dedicated AKC preservation breeder focused on health, temperament, and breed type. My small, in-home program follows the AKC standard. I’m selective in my breeding and in choosing loving, responsible homes for my puppies.

Getting a puppy from Kathleen
Kathleen has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price
Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes health guarantee, AKC registration, vaccines, deworming, and microchip. A non-refundable $500 reservation fee is required when committing to a puppy. Puppies are priced the same regardless of sex. Breeding and show prospects price may vary. Pick order is based on the waitlist and the order in which we receive inquiries. The reservation fee does not guarantee a specific puppy—only that you will receive a puppy from the litter. Puppy placements are made based on ongoing evaluations, as well as each buyer’s needs and preferences, to ensure the best match for both the puppy and the home.”

Parent health testing
Musashi Japanese Chin reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Japanese Chins.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
