I'm Heather H., the breeder behind New River Valley Malamutes located in Independence, VA. We are a small hobby breeder who only have 2 to 4 litters a year. All of our dogs are loved cared for and socialized. Our mission is to breed the very best dogs that we can, to raise them with love, and to select their future homes with careful attention.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I started out working with a rescue in 2009. Eventually I rescued an Alaskan Malamute named Dakota. And of course I adopted him. After that I fell in love with the breed. I had to stop rescuing because I was deployed and when I got home I started breeding and have been in love ever since. We have been breeding for over 10 years now.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our breeding program is special because the whole family is involved, we all work hard and spend as much time with our sweet babies as possible, they are also socialized with cats and other dogs. I also dont mind if people come visit and if they are too far away video chatting is always an option.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include seal and white, sable and white, gray and white, red and white, agouti and white, black and white, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Heather

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit and between $1,200 - $1,600 final payment, before taxes & fees.

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

    This was truly an amazing and blessed experience. I found my new baby and Heather sent pics every week so I could watch her grow. When we finally met it was love at first site!
