Meet the breeder

I'm Patricia S., the breeder behind Newcastle Kennel Leonberger and Bernese Mountain Dogs located in Lowman, NY. We are an ethical hobby breeding program with a great amount of education and experience in breeding healthy BMDs and Leonbergers. Our dogs are not only champions in the ring but in the hearts of their forever families! We specialize in producing excellent representations of the standard with a focus on health, temperament, and conformation. I only breed one or two carefully planned litters a year.

Q. & A. with Patricia

  • Why did you start breeding?

Bernese Mountain Dogs and Leonbergers are incredible dogs, and I breed in order to preserve their wonderful qualities. They excel both in and out of the show ring. I am dedicated to improving my lines with each generation so that these breeds will continue to thrive for a long time to come. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these magnificent dogs all the while creating companionship for others!
  • What makes your program special?

I hold myself to the highest standard when it comes to my dogs and my policies. I set my puppies up for success by carefully selecting the parents of each litter, keeping in mind factors such as health, temperament, and conformation. I am thorough in health testing and caring for my dogs, and I make sure each puppy gets the proper group and individual care that it needs to thrive. My goal is to ensure that every dog that comes from my program is set up to live a happy and healthy life and is prepared for its future role when it leaves my care.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
