I'm Carla Jo R., the breeder behind Ni Kokoro Japanese Chin located in Snow Camp, NC. We are a small hobby breeder that offers quality Japanese Chin that are healthy and happy! Our puppies are bred for health, quality, and temperament. Our puppies are lovingly raised in our home as part of our family so that we can prepare them to be wonderful additions to yours. We health test our breeding dogs with OFA, CERF and Embark DNA health testing.

Why did you start breeding?
I didn’t breed any litters until I had been in each breed for 5 years. After my first Tervuren litter, I was disappointed in the type, so I started importing dogs from Belgian and France. I put this experience and knowledge towards my breeding program with the Chin. I only breed parents that are tested against heart, eye anomalies, patella, and hip disease, and normal GM2. I also now do DNA health screening through Embark. All my dogs are now tested, and puppies are tested also on request.What makes your program special?
My breeding program is based on the health and temperament wellness of my puppies with good quality of type. I also have a waitlist for my puppies and educate prospective homes on why finding a reputable breeder is a priority in buying your purebred puppy. I have sold Chin for show, agility, service dogs, and companions.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and white, red and white, lemon and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Puppy prices include between $3,500 - $6,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes AKC Registrations (Limited or Full), pedigree (certified or copy), vaccination record, health guarantee against any hereditary diseases. Puppy packs also. Your NONREFUNDABLE deposit goes toward your full price of Ni Kokoro Japanese Chin, male or female, show or companion. (Whichever your requirements) Balance due at time puppy is ready to go to your home.”

Hebi finished his AKC Championship in only 3 Japanese Chin Specialties which is the minimum of shows required. Quite a feat! He is a Grand Champion, has all health requirements and DNA clear from over 250 anomalies by Embark. Hebi is the total Chin gentleman, sweet, kind, well socialized, completely trustworthy house trained and extremely smart. He passes these wonderful characteristics to his puppies. Hebi has produced all colors including mahogany sable.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Full Embark Panel, Gangliosidosis GM2, Japanese Chin Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
