I'm Douglas W., the breeder behind North Texas Working Malinois located in Chico, TX. We offer high-drive, intelligent Belgian Malinois to working and companion homes. We breed for health, temperament, and ability. Dogs from our program can excel in a variety of fields, including search and rescue, the police K9 program, personal protection, and scent work. We keep in mind a variety of factors when breeding, including drive, energy, temperament, and structure. Our goal is to produce balanced dogs that will be able to thrive wherever they are needed.

Litter update on 03 Sept •…Hello all who have secured a puppy position by placing their deposit. First off, thank you! Secondly, we have begun the evaluation process, and we are pleased to announce that thus far, we are seeing some amazing temperaments and the foundation of good drive levels. All of the puppies have been weened and have passed the gruel food stage. They are eating well soaked food and doing fantastic. We will add posted updates every few days, as we continue the evaluation process. There are only 1 male and 1 female position left. These are some amazing puppies. And CERT's final litter. She's begun the recovery process and will be going to her new PD around the first week of October. Stay tuned for more details, as we continue evaluation.

Program update on 27 Oct 2025 •…Hello to everyone! I just wanted to reach out and thank everyone for the applications for Mimi/ Thor puppies. They are doing fantastic! All are eating gruel dog food and starting to run around and behave like Belgian Malinois. This is a great time to begin seeing their personality traits starting to show up. We will begin their actual evaluation period in a week and a half. Since week 2, we have been performing noise inoculation. This helps to build curiosity in sounds instead of fear response. Any noise that sounds interesting, they are confident enough to go check it out.

Litter update on 17 Oct 2025 •…The puppies are starting to adjust their coat color. Some are going to be dark, Sable, it seems. And they are all running around trying to steal moms food! We have begun the noise inoculation process with them to ensure that load sudden noises create curiosity and not fear.

About Cherry
Cherry is an amazing female Malinois. She's the daughter of our Mimi and direct sibling to Shadow. From a young puppy, Cherry has presented excellent drive and temperament. She's been extremely easy to train. This girl has zero equipment focus and wants the person behind it. She is fully trained as a Personal Protection K9. She has wonderful public social and house manners. We are sharing some young photos of her besides the current ones.

+5I'll start with the people part of this before the dog part. Without the breeders, there are no dogs. Without Douglas, we wouldn't have the next amazing member of our family. We didn't know how big a hole our previous Mal's death had left. This new girl confirms we're Mal people, and we always will be. Douglas is perhaps the kindest man I've had the pleasure to meet and work with in quite some time. My flight from Kansas City to Dallas was delayed, substantially. What was supposed to be a 4:10 PM arrival turned into a 10 PM one. Douglas and I stayed in contact the entire time, and as I kept sending later and later ETAs, he kept sending positive responses. He could have told me to grab a hotel room and made plans for morning. It would have been completely reasonable and understandable. I'd have had no complaint. Instead, he stayed for an extra 5 hours at the airport when he has to get up and work the next day. I made my connection back, by the skin of my teeth, but every second I spend outside the terminal talking to Douglas was a second I'd spend again 20x over. Not only is Douglas knowledgeable about Mals, he's a genuinely nice man. He packed two days' worth of food, a bone, and a bowl in case we got stuck and didn't make our layover. Our paperwork was ready to go for when I arrived at the terminal. It's like he's a 5th-generation breeder, or something. Oh yeah, he is. And it shows. Bear is a machine. Her motor is fantastic, and she hasn't found anything that's not worth an exploratory nibble. Our family is already in love with her, and we're very thankful she's now part of this family. Douglas with North Texas Working Malinois is awesome. I found him through the Good Dog app. He is super responsive and a quality breeder. I could not be happier with the puppy we got from him. She is perfect. You won’t go wrong getting a puppy from him. She came with her initial vaccinations, a microchip and a great information package along with a chew toy and some starter food. Nyx is happy and healthy and has a fantastic personality and has no fear of anything.
