I'm Shelly D., the breeder behind Oak Bend Danes located in Weatherford, TX. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy, beautiful puppies and connect loving families with their new best friends! We are devoted to each of our dogs and puppies and do everything we can to make sure that they have the best lives possible and fine forever homes where they can flourish.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    After being a Dane owner for years and with the help of a great mentor, we began our breeding program.

  • What makes your program special?

    We keep open communication, along with honest standards for the Great Dane Breed. Our goal is to improve the breed with each breeding we have. We only choose healthy parents with good temperaments, provide proper socialization and daily care, and always place puppies in loving homes with wonderful families.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include silver, chocolate, blue and white, fawn, blue, harlequin, and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Shelly

Shelly has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"Price includes all age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, veterinary health clearance, puppy pack, AKC registration, proper socialization, litter box training and lots of puppy breath! Your Deposit is Non-Refundable. We cannot hold puppies without a deposit. We are sorry that your circumstances may change after you put a deposit down; but we are holding a live, breathing animal that grows, eats, and is cared for daily that could be placed in another family’s home when ready."

Shelly may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Inherited Myopathy in Great Danes (IMGD), Animal Genetics Panel, DNA Profile, DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
