I'm Sherryl M., the breeder behind OakSong German Shepherd Dogs located in Aledo, TX. All of our dogs are loved as family members. We cherish our puppies from birth up until they leave our arms to snuggle into yours! We raise our dogs in our home right alongside our family. We love being able to match our puppies with families that are the perfect fit for their personalities.

Why did you start breeding?
I spent five years learning the about the breed and acquiring the three Shepherds I now have. I purchased and chose to breed these three because of the temperament, beauty and social nature. Macho is not only beautiful but an ambassador for the breed, although he has a tough appearance, he is quite the lapdog! Sweet and gentle with the puppies, though he prefers one at a time. Selection of parent dogs that possess friendly temperaments, sound capable body structure, Health Testing, and excellent food and Veterinarian care. We don’t skimp on our choices, but work to make reasonable decisions just like they were my children.What are the different breed coat types in your program?

“The price includes a veterinarian checked and two sets of vaccinations, AKC LIMITED REGISTRATION APPLICATION, 2 yr health guarantee against Genetic Diseases, when maintained with routine vaccination and vet checks. Puppy package with FOOD, toys, blanket, collar and more. Deposits are non-refundable, but can be transferred to future litters should the parents fail to produce a litter of live puppies.”

Litter update on 04 Dec. •…I will attempt to post two Feature Puppies a night, along with a group video. I will also state whether the featured puppy is definitely reserved by someone who has specifically chosen a particular color AND sex. They will have first pick and if they decide that puppy is not for them, then that puppy will be available again. I am posting pictures as a general introduction. For example: if you asked for a “black female”, there are 4 black females. If you have “1st pick” you would get to pick your black female before anyone else, then second pick would get to chose and third pick and so on. Hope that helps! At this point all the Red & Black puppies are reserved, so unless you requested a red and black of any sex, you will have to wait and see if one comes available. The dark red collared Black female is also reserved at this time. I hope that helps you understand the process a little better. So here is the group video. They are starting to play and respond to voices. Still a little unsteady, but walking better! Enjoy! This is the fun part of being a breeder- playing with babies!!!!

Litter update on 04 Dec. •…Feature Puppy: Purple Girl, solid black with white streak on chest, black eyes. Personality appears to be playful and receptive to being on her back. Appears to like belly rubs. This female is available as a first pick.

Litter update on 02 Dec. •…Puppies will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I will start posting puppies pictures by color and sex. They will be grouped that way. Select appointments will be made beginning in 2 weeks by the order reservations were received. I will be calling you individually to discuss whether you want to visit to pick your puppy or chose by video and conversation over the telephone. I know some live close and others a bit farther so I would like you to think about how you would like to chose your puppy. I am evaluating there interactions with their litter mates and their temperature to help you pick the puppy that fits your wants and needs. But you are ultimately going to choose the one you want the most. I have 3 black females that are remaining to choose from if you decide on a different puppy than what you first requested. Program update on 01 Dec. •…They are all able to get up on all fours for a few minutes. They are 19 day olds gaining weight and all their eyes are open. When I talk to them they are turning their heads trying to listen and find me. They are progressing well.

Litter update on 24 Nov. •…12 days old. The babies are beginning to get there legs underneath them. Eyes are still not open. Everyone weighs 2 pounds or a little over. Their coats are getting slightly wavy around their necks, which is common for the longer manes.

Program update on 22 Nov. •…Be aware your puppy is going to inherit the counter surfer gene. There were Two bone on the counter, no there is only one and she didn’t even disturb the label! It is still intact!!!

About Macho
Macho is an ambassador for the breed! He likes everyone, puppies, other dogs, he loves riding in the car and going on hikes. He alerts me to strange presences and invites friends in. He goes to the boarding kennel and behaves like a gentleman. A man once stepped on his tail and Macho never reacted. He made a friend for life! Macho has passed WB, will be working on his BH. Macho is OFA Hips Fair, Elbows Good, heatlh tested Dysplasia and DM CLEAR.

About Lily
Lily is the ultimate companion. She is quite, rarely barks, and is a princess in every respect. She has earned her SG show rating, has OFA Good Hips and Elbows. She has an impeccable pedigree of show-line ancestors who are V and VA rated and also work with many Schutzhund titles. Her coat boarders on being plush. Both her parents were stock coats of outstanding quality.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
