I'm Jessica B., the breeder behind On The Rocks Rhodesian Ridgebacks located in Burr Oak, MI. On The Rocks strives to produce true all-around Ridgebacks. Our goal is to have dogs with the ability and desire to perform in any performance event asked of them while still maintaining exceptional temperaments and correct structure. All our dogs and puppies are raised and live in our house with 5 kids. Our puppies have the dispositions to live in any type of home, (apartment, houses, condos, etc). Our dogs are pets first and foremost and we expect the same from anyone who is owned by our dogs!

Why did you start breeding?
In my youth, I was lucky enough to have parents who helped me get started in the horse world. By high school, I was raising, training and selling horses to other youth riders. Fast forward a few years later I married a career sailor and having horses was no longer possible. What started as a way to heal my heart turned into a passion and the fulfilling hobby of breeding.What makes your program special?
I focus on producing dogs that are not only amazing family companions but have excellent health, correct structure, and amazing minds. Our dogs thrive in everything from the guardian of the couch to herding, hunting, showing, marathon companions, etc. You name and I have a puppy that has or is doing it (even search and rescue & drug detection).Where do your breeding dogs live?

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Dentition
