I'm Suzanne D., the breeder behind Oronzova Borzoi located in Sebastopol, CA. I am a preservation breeder striving for quality, health, and to ensure the future of the Borzoi for generations to come. I study the pedigree, structure, and genetics of every Borzoi pair prior to breeding.
I breed top quality Borzoi from health tested and titled parents for show, lure coursing, rally, obedience, or loving companions.
My ultimate goal is to provide healthy, well structured dogs that are a joy to live with and can compete in any venue.
Q. & A. with Suzanne
Why did you start breeding?
I have always been invested in the well-being of animals. I wanted to give back to the breed by producing healthy pups and placing them into loving homes. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same joy that I've found in raising these wonderful dogs.
What makes your program special?
I am a breeder owner handler of Borzoi. I do not breed my dogs unless they are fully healthy and genetically tested. I am dedicated to always having responsible policies when it comes to breeding, socializing, and training my pups. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families.
My puppies are raised in my home.
I follow Puppy Culture and Avidog puppy rearing.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Oronzova Borzoi reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Borzois.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
