Otseval Companion Dogs

Reta S.

Breeder of Companion Crosses

Meet the breeder

I'm Reta S., the breeder behind Otseval Companion Dogs located in East Hartford, CT. Our goal is to produce easy-care companion dogs for both novice and experienced owners. Temperament is our top goal, with health right behind. We cross-breed because it gives us the freedom to choose the best individual dogs for the program, regardless of breed or mix. Because there isn't a single breed that meets the need we are trying to fill, we decided to forge our own path!

Q. & A. with Reta

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started reading about dogs as soon as I could read! All the ways people have bred dogs to help them inspired me to breed dogs to fill my own needs. I have worked with dogs in numerous capacities for over 25 years, from dog walking and retail to a set of helping hands in a veterinary office. Over time, I have come to believe that breeding is my purpose in the world of dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

When a topic interests me, I dive deeply into research and learn all I can. Breeding is no exception! My curiosity and openness is a huge strength in this and all areas of my life. I will never claim to know everything, but am happy to share what I have learned and listen to others' knowledge. Helping people find the ideal pet is a passion of mine, so I will always be honest about my puppies.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are small size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
