Meet the breeder

I'm Nancy P., the breeder behind P & P Shepherds located in Pelham, NC. I am a dedicated German Shepherd breeder with six years of experience focused on raising healthy, well-balanced dogs that make loving family companions. My program prioritizes health and sound structure, with all dogs health tested through Embark and OFA hips and elbows to ensure the best start for every puppy. I carefully select for low to medium drives and stable temperaments, producing German Shepherds that are easy to live with, loyal, and great for everyday families. I appreciate the beauty of all colors and patterns and believe each dog is special in its own way. My goal is to raise confident, social, and affectionate companions that fit seamlessly into their forever homes.

Q. & A. with Nancy

  • Why did you start breeding?

It all started with one German Shepherd and that changed everything. I fell in love with the breed and just had to have more. They are the best breed I have ever had. Smart, funny, fun, protective and loyal till the end.
  • What makes your program special?

I am not bias like some breeders with the colors and markings/patterns they can come in. I love them all. They are all naturally occurring in the breed.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black seal, panda, isabella, black and tan, black and red, blue, and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

On Saturday we made the 7 hour drive to pick up our girl. We are in love! This girl has suprised us from day one. When we made stops to set puppy pads down for her to use and stretch her legs, she was completely unfazed by the loud trucks parking or motorcycles driving by. Yesterday, we had her outside with the tractor running close by, she just stood there and took it all in. Along with all the "YES!" and "good girl" praises. I began lure training with her meals yesterday, food motivated girl! Today she had her establishment visit with our vet, everyone LOVED her. She wasn't bothered by the other dogs or office cat. Just again, took it all in. After her nap today, I did a small session with beef liver treats, found her high value treat! She's super smart, super loving. Can't wait to do more training with her. Working with P&P Shepards has been absolutely fantasic. You can definately tell our Kuma got a great start to her life.

Nancy was great from the beginning. She answered all the crazy questions we had as if we had never had a dog before. She sent pictures and updates on how Lycan was doing. We absolutely enjoyed working with her.

Working with Nancy at P & P Shepherds was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Nancy is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about her dogs. She was supportive, patient, and always willing to answer questions, making the entire process smooth and reassuring. I couldn’t be happier with my German Shepherd, Kylo. He is everything I hoped for and more—smart, loving, well-tempered, and an absolute joy to have in my life. It’s clear that Kylo was raised with care, dedication, and high standards. I am so grateful to Nancy and P & P Shepherds for bringing such an amazing dog into my life. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a German Shepherd and a breeder who truly cares ❤️
