Meet the breeder

I'm Joy L., the breeder behind Park Place Swissys located in Pasadena, CA. We strive to raise and breed the best Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. As an AKC Breeder of Merit our goal is to place each puppy in the right home where they can live their best lives. With our expertise we can help you bring an awesome Swissy into your family.

Q. & A. with Joy

  • Why did you start breeding?

In 1996, I saw, and fell in love with, my first Greater Swiss Mountain Dog while attending a horse show. The devotion, dedication, and determination I saw in the breed captivated me. I finished my first Swissy: CH. Windrider’s Northern Aire, “Hunter” to his Championship title. He also earned his Obedience, Rally, Drafting, Hiking, Herding, and Weight Pull titles as well. And he could dock dive!
  • What makes your program special?

It is always quality over quantity at Park Place Swissys. I go the extra mile. For instance, I took my bitch Vision, overseas to Germany to breed her, aiming to enhance the Swiss Mountain Dogs' gene pool in America. From that litter came GCH. CH. Park Place Alpinez Barclay. “Barclay” achieved numerous show titles and awards, including Best Of Opposite Veterans at the 2012 GSMD Nationals.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
