Meet the breeder

I'm Barbara L., the breeder behind Patchwork Bedlington Terriers and Bichon Frise located in Lindale, TX. As a canine 4-H leader I have worked to educate others. I have the 1st American bred Bedlington to get a Best in Show and to be entered in the United Kingdom’s Registry Book of Dogs. This means that this dog will qualify to go to the Crufts World Dog show every year forever.

Q. & A. with Barbara

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started in dogs at the age of 10. My dad sent me to obedience classes with our new puppy. CH Snowstorm's Maid-n-White Satin, one of our early Bichons, won Best Junior at the Houston Kennel Club Specialty. As an adult, she finished her championship while being specialed and was in the top 10 Bichons. She not only brought us joy and gave us wonderful offspring.
  • What makes your program special?

I am an AKC Breeder of Merit and Breeder with Heart and do hold high standards in properly placing my puppies into the best homes. The parents are from Best in Show dogs, both US and Europe. This includes my 1st American Bred Bedlington to win a Best in Show in Europe and be entered in the United Kingdom's Dog Registry Book. This book contains all the great dogs who have excelled in dog sports.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bedlington Terrier puppies include liver and blue. Bichon Frise puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Working with Barbara from Patchwork Bedlington Terriers and Bichon Frisé was an absolutely incredible experience. From the very beginning, she took the time to understand my needs, lifestyle, and what I was looking for in a companion. Poet isn’t just a pet—he’s my companion, my PTSD service dog, and truly my son. Barbara didn’t just pick a dog for me; she carefully selected my perfect match, my furry soul mate. I have always loved pets, but I never truly understood the deep, unconditional love of being a dog mom until I met Poet. From the moment we connected, I knew he was meant to be by my side. His love, loyalty, and intuitive nature have been life-changing, and I have Barbara to thank for bringing us together. Patchwork Bedlington Terriers and Bichon Frisé is a world-renowned, champion breeder, but what makes them truly special is the heart and dedication behind their work. Barbara and her family don’t just breed dogs—they nurture and raise them with love, ensuring they are well-socialized, healthy, and ready for their forever homes. They treat every puppy like part of the family, and that warmth and care make all the difference. I cannot recommend Barbara enough. If you’re looking for a reputable, ethical breeder who truly loves what they do and wants to help you find your perfect companion, look no further. Poet has changed my life, and I am forever grateful!

Barbara was amazing to work with in January as we picked a new Bichon to add to our family. Oliver arrived late one night. Barbara even arranged for someone to bring him to me. It was love at first sight! 💕 He met his older sister Sadie who is a 15 year old Bichon. And all of the vets at Kings Crossing Animal Hospital have fallen in love with Oliver! Oliver is healthy and happy and he loves to play. We are so blessed to have found him!
