  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

In my research to find the right GSD breeder I found Pam and Patriot Shepherds. Pam was so gracious with her time in answering my seemingly endless questions and I felt comfortable from the start knowing she loves her dogs. Pam's facility is well thought out, and she takes every opportunity to make sure her pups are well cared for and healthy. We brought our female puppy home at 8 weeks and have loved every minute of welcoming her into our home. She has bonded nicely with our 7 1/2 yr GSD male who finds her to be quite amusing. I've had a few questions along the way and Pam has always been quick to get right back to me with answers. I highly recommend Pam and Patriot Shepherds if you are considering adding a German Shepherd to your family. Do your research, but I know you will find Pam knowledgeable of this breed and always willing to share her knowledge.
