Meet the breeder

I'm Robyn J., the breeder behind Pawmetto Hounds located in Columbia, SC. At Pawmetto Hounds, we raise European bloodline Basset Hounds . Each litter is thoughtfully planned, with vet-guided breeding. Our reproductive veterinarian closely monitors each female from conception through delivery, ensuring exceptional care for both mother and puppies.

Q. & A. with Robyn

  • Why did you start breeding?

I’ve always loved dogs, but fell in love with Basset Hounds over 30 years ago. I bred from 1992–1997, then stepped away to raise our family, including caring for our special needs child. In 2017, we returned with purpose—focusing on health, temperament, and raising well-loved puppies to share with amazing families.
  • What makes your program special?

Our newborn puppies are raised in oxygenated incubators within a carefully controlled environment, giving them the best possible start in life. Early Neurological Stimulation begins at 3 days old. Each puppy receives comprehensive veterinary care, including two full health exams, two sets of vaccinations,Quality nutrition, microchipping with AKC Reunite, and lifetime AKC Poison Control enrollment.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white black and red, brown black and white, lemon and white, black white and brown, black brown and white, and red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Robyn was very easy to work with and it was very obvious that she knows so much about Basset Hounds! We learned so much from her before we picked up our new puppy and we are forever grateful for our new little family member! We named her Lady and she’s adjusted so well! She is always so happy and her favorite thing to do is nap with me and my wife! Haha We love her so much.

Robyn and her family were amazing to work with through the entire process. You can tell how much love is put into each litter and it clearly shows a love for the bassethound breed. We adopted from robyn back in november and even now in june robyn is still checking up on our aspen. When we are ready to add another basset hound to our family, robyn will be the first place we go. Thank you so much for allowing us to be apart of your pawmetto hound family!

We absolutely loved working with Robyn! She was always very responsive to our questions and knowledgeable about basset hounds. More importantly, you could tell how much she loves her puppies! After speaking with her on the phone we knew she was the perfect breeder for us. I was concerned at first because we live about 10 hours away, but she kept in constant communication with us and sent photos and videos constantly to keep us updated. She even delivered Henry directly to us to ensure that he arrived happy and safe! Not only did she deliver Henry, but she brought a binder full of all the important information we would need, along with his favorite toys and blankets that smelled like his mom and his littermates. We 100 percent would get another puppy from Robyn when the time is right. I would not hesitate to recommend Pawmetto Hounds to my friends!

From the first message, as well as after puppy pickup, Robyn from Pawmetto Hounds has been responsive and hugely supportive. Marleigh was so loved and well taken care of from birth to the point she joined our family. She came home with a binder full of information that set us up for success for the first couple weeks at home as well as her first vet visit. She has adjusted quickly to being home. I cannot say enough good things about Robyn still being available and making sure our new family is adjusting well. We cannot wait to see our girl grow into the best dog!

Robyn and her husband were amazingly easy and worry free to work with. Thanks to a recommendation of a friend, I checked out Gooddog.com and found Robyn and my new baby. From our first contact, she answered all my questions and helped me navigate the adoption process from start to finish. And even has called and checked in a few times since Roxie came to live with us. They kindly hand delivered Roxie to my house and stayed awhile to make sure she transitioned well. And Roxie Lulu is absolutely the sweetest, sassiest little amazing ball of joy and I am so thankful for Robyn for bringing her into my life.
